PEOPLEMAP: Understanding Yourself and Others
Taking the Golden Rule to the Platinum Rule

We’ve been taught in the Golden Rule to ‘do unto others as you would want them to do onto you’. In the Platinum we learn to ‘do unto others as they would have you do unto them’. It doesn’t override the Golden Rule, it expands it. In using the PeopleMap Process we learn that all people are not alike and treating others as we want to be treated may not be at all what they want! In short, we are not all alike and we have to take time to get know the other person as an individual not as an extension of ourselves. Jump over to the PeopleMap page and read about this exciting new process. It brings the Body of Christ metaphor to life in ways your congregation will never forget!

PUT YOUR OXYGEN MASK ON FIRST: Life Lessons in Self-Care

If we don’t take care of ourselves, who will? This workshop begins with the premise that it is NOT selfish to care for yourself. In fact, as the flight attendants tell you, put your own oxygen mask on first if you want to be conscious to take care of others! It’s true. In this workshop we explore the myths of self-care, the need for self-care and the benefits for everyone in your life when you are committed to self-care. This fun and reflective workshop can be done in 90 minutes or to really care for yourself plan on 3 hours!

FIRE TENDERS: Keeping the Passion for God Alive in Congregations

This workshop can be adapted for a group of pastors who are looking for ways to keep the sacred fire burning in themselves and their congregations by looking at leadership and personality style as well as other tools that will help fan a spark into a flame.

This workshop can also be used with congregations that are experiencing a dimming of that flame they once knew as an unquenchable fire for God. This workshop runs for 3 hours or a weekend retreat.

LEADERSHIP: Strength Building in the Body of Christ

Here's the bottom line: Leadership is all about relationships. Everyone in the church is a leader whether or not they hold a position on a board or committee. Christ taught us that the Great Commandment is based on relationships; our relationship to God, to ourselves and to our neighbors. This workshop will bring your members closer together through fun and interactive exercises that are based on 1 Corinthians 12 and 13. Using the best of leadership principles from the 21st century and the scriptures, this workshop will open up a whole new way of being and doing church. This workshop runs for 6 hours.

SABBATH MOMENTS: And God Said Exhale

We are busy people and in our busyness we may not realize how much harm we are doing to our bodies and spirits. This workshop is about stopping, exhaling, breathing deeply, resting, and paying attention to your life and the life that God wants for you. By providing a breather for the busy person and tools for creating Sabbath moments everyday, this workshop will give you a fresh perspective on Sabbath. You will come to understand what a famous rabbi meant when he said, "It is not we that keep the Sabbath, but the Sabbath that keeps us." This workshop can be customized to fit 3 hours to an overnight retreat.

COPING WITH LOSS AND GRIEF: You're Not Going Crazy. You're Grieving.

Loss is universal but grief is unique, and grief is our reaction to significant loss. This four session workshop is designed for people who are dealing with a significant loss in their lives and need a place to understand what they are going through. In these sessions you will find a safe place to be, learn, and to share with others who are also grieving. Using story telling, lecture, media, and sharing, a variety of topics will be explored gently and with compassion. This workshop runs for four 90-minute sessions.

PRAYERFUL LEADERSHIP

What would happen if all the leaders in the church, members of boards and committees, as well as teachers and youth workers, spent a portion of each meeting in prayer with one another? What would happen if the leaders in your church learned how to pray in ways that that would go beyond the bookend prayers of a meeting? This workshop teaches a variety of prayer styles and helps the participant see that what happens in most church meetings, is too little God and too much individual fears and agendas. Using actual church meeting scenarios this workshop brings the everyday decisions a church makes into the light of scripture and prayer. It's fun, it's educational, it's spiritual and it's eye opening. Your leaders will leave with a fresh perspective on how to be leaders together and how a meeting can be transformed into a prayerful experience. This workshop runs for 6 hours.
